Notes[]

  • This story makes the suggestion that the knocking on the door of the spaceship at the end of the universe in Listen was Jack and River playing a prank on Orson Pink. Jack also refers to a woman waiting to play chess, likely meaning Ashildr, which would suggest the planet Orson Pink is stranded on is Gallifrey.
  • This story marks John Barrowman's last appearance in a Big Finish audio drama to date. Two months before this story was released, Barrowman played Captain Jack on television in Fugitive of the Judoon, an appearance which would be followed-up by a special guest role in Revolution of the Daleks on New Years Day 2021. In April 2021, a report in The Guardian regarding abuse allegations against Noel Clarke drew attention to the conduct of actors on the set of Doctor Who, reigniting discussions of Barrowman's propensity for flashing his co-stars in a way Barrowman later described as "tomfoolery". Consequently, the BBC implemented a ban on using Captain Jack or Mickey Smith in any licensed Doctor Who media. Barrowman had already recorded the Torchwood range story Absent Friends but the ban caused its indefinite postponement mere days before release.
