Queen Bat was a Doctor Who fanzine published from Norfolk by Jackie Marshall[1] and Val Douglas. It was a Doctor Who-focused continuation of the same editors' fanzine Space Rat, which had also featured content related to Blake's 7 and The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Eight issues of Space Rat were released between 1983 and 1985, and 13 issues of Queen Bat were released by 1990.

The fanzines contained both fanfiction and non-fiction content including reviews, essays, and recipes. Space Rat included an interview with Anthony Ainley as well as, serialised across four issues, Martin J. Wiggins' Wealth of Nation. Queen Bat came to include material by Paul Cornell, including Total Eclipse, a fanfiction series which he later adapted into the 1991 Virgin New Adventures novel Timewyrm: Revelation.[2][3] Various pieces originally published in issues of Queen Bat were later reprinted in the 1997 Virgin Books anthology License Denied: Rumblings from the Doctor Who Underground, edited by Cornell. Queen Bat issue 5 also included cover art by Phil Bevan later reprinted in The Art of Phil Bevan.
