Posthumus was a character in William Shakespeare's play Cymbeline.

He was the husband of Imogen and the son-in-law of Cymbeline. Imogen always wore the bracelet which Posthumus gave her as a love token. While in Rome, he accepted a drunken wager from the Italian nobleman Iachimo to test the loyalty of Imogen. Later on in an earlier draft of the play, the Doctor told Iachimo the wager he made with Posthumus shamed them both but did not shame Imogen. (PROSE: Cymbeline)
