A policeman of the Metropolitan Police Service was present in Trafalgar Square on 23 October 1843 when the Fifth Doctor climbed Nelson's Column. He made little attempt to stop him and was forced to flee when several stone lions came after him.
The stone lions killed him and seven civilians. Their deaths were later written off by the Met, with the official story being that they were crushed by a bus. (AUDIO: The Lions of Trafalgar)
