She quipped to her fellow UNIT officers on a secure operations board that the smell of melted plastic was a "shocker". Another UNIT officer, Staff Sergeant A. Frederick, attempted to seed a false theory with the press that the "mannequins" were made from faulty plastic that reacted to a gas explosion that only gave the appearance of movement.
