Peter Sallis, OBE (1 February 1921-2 June 2017[1]) was an English actor who played Elric Penley in the Doctor Who television story The Ice Warriors. He was later due to play Striker in Enlightenment, but industrial action caused filming times to change and his schedule could no longer fit the role in.[2]

He is perhaps best known for playing Norman Clegg in every single episode of Last of the Summer Wine and for voicing Wallace in the Aardman Productions animated series Wallace and Gromit (1989-2010).
