Penny Joy was production assistant for the Doctor Who television Marco Polo (with Douglas Camfield) and The Keys of Marinus (uncredited[1], with David Conroy).

Born in London, she was brought up in Germany and went to school there. At school, she was introduced to the world of theatre and became interested in it, initially performing as an actress. After returning to England, she participated in repertory theatre in various places.

Her mother pushed her to pursue a job at the BBC, and she became part of the Drama department. Having learnt from others in the department, her work on Marco Polo was her first as a production assistant on her own.

After her work on Doctor Who, she continued working at the BBC for some years before moving to New Zealand and then Canada, working in television production in both. (DWM 557)
