Penelope Rich wanted William Shakespeare to put on Richard III uncut to still rebellion in the public on behalf of her brother Robert Devereaux, the Earl of Essex. She helped Judith Shakespeare and Susan Foreman when Ian Chesterton was injured. She incited a riot after a performance of the play. She was the real reason why the riots started.
