Paul Darrow (2 May 1941-3 June 2019[1]) appeared in two Doctor Who television stories; as Captain Sam Hawkins in Doctor Who and the Silurians and Tekker in Timelash. He also voiced Guidance in the Big Finish Doctor Who audio story The Next Life and Kaston Iago in the Kaldor City audio series. In 1996, he narrated a Vodafone advertisement starring Jon Pertwee as the Third Doctor.
He was also considered for the roles of the Minister of Persuasion in Four to Doomsday, Captain Stapley in Time-Flight (TCH 35), Valgard in Terminus (TCH 37), Commander Vorshak and Bulic in Warriors of the Deep (TCH 38), Gustave Lytton in Resurrection of the Daleks and Arak in Vengeance on Varos.
He shared his memories of Timelash on the story's audio commentary and the documentary The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.
Career[]
He is best known for playing Kerr Avon in Blake's 7 and has reprised his role for Big Finish Productions. Other notable roles include Mr Verity in over fifty episodes of medical soap Emergency - Ward 10 (1965-66), the Sheriff of Nottingham in the miniseries The Legend of Robin Hood (1975) and Charles Bravo in The Poisoning of Charles Bravo (1975), which co-starred Maureen O'Brien. He also appeared as James Carker in a 1983 adaptation of Dombey and Son, which was produced by Barry Letts and script edited by Terrance Dicks.
