Paul Clayton (born 8 March 1957[1]) voiced Mr Colchester in Big Finish's Torchwood audio adventures.
He previously played Mr Bartle in the Doctor Who television story Planet of the Ood.
He also voiced several other characters for Big Finish Productions.
Personal life[]
Clayton is gay.[2] He discussed his experiences as a gay man throughout his life, on Scott Handcock's From Queer to Eternity podcast. In this, he described coming out to his mother whilst discussing the presence of Ian McKellen at a charity ball in 1990, and his pride in having been brought in by Handcock to play the character of Mr Colchester in the Torchwood audio range - to showcase the experiences of a character who is an older gay man and has the difficulty of balancing his job with the safety of his partner.[2]
