A password was used to gain access to restricted resources.

Madrigal LaFayette used "JOHANN” as her simularity password. (PROSE: Lucifer Rising [+]Jim Mortimore and Andy Lane, Virgin New Adventures (Virgin Books, 1993).)

On 7 March 2006, the Ninth Doctor told Mickey Smith to use the password "buffalo" to access a variety of areas of the UNIT website. In Pete's World (TV: Doomsday [+]Russell T Davies, Doctor Who series 2 (BBC One, 2006)., PROSE: The Time Traveller's Almanac [+]Steve Tribe, BBC Books (2008).) in 2007, "Gemini12" was apparently a secret ingredient in Henrik's Surprise but was also the password to the Cybus Industries Staff Intranet. (GAME: Cybus Spy [+]Joseph Lidster, Defending the Earth! (BBC, 2006).)

Hr'oln was Eve's first pet and also her password to the Museum of the Last Ones. (PROSE: The Last Dodo [+]Jacqueline Rayner, BBC New Series Adventures (BBC Books, 2007).)

"Hastings" was the password of Bridget Spears that Lois Habiba to access information on Torchwood at the Home Office. (TV: Children of Earth: Day One [+]Russell T Davies, Torchwood series 3 (BBC One, 2009).)

"Crimson Eleven Delight Petrichor" was the telepathic password to access one of the back-up TARDIS control rooms. (TV: The Doctor's Wife [+]Neil Gaiman, Doctor Who series 6 (BBC One, 2011).)

"rycbar123" was the password used to access the Maitland family's Wi-Fi. (TV: The Bells of Saint John [+]Steven Moffat, Doctor Who series 7 (BBC One, 2013).)

"7258" was the password to access the frozen people Kazran Sardick kept as insurance from the lower-classed citizens in Sardicktown to ensure they paid their debts to him. (TV: A Christmas Carol [+]Steven Moffat, Doctor Who Christmas Special 2010 (BBC One, 2010).)

"0505" was one of Elizabeth Meadows's passwords during her excavation in the Arctic Circle. It represented the date 5 May, the birthday of her daughter, Daisy. (GAME: Blood of the Cybermen [+]Phil Ford, The Adventure Games (BBC Wales Interactive, 2010).)
