Operation Werewolf was the first story release in the eighth series of The Lost Stories, produced by Big Finish Productions. It was adapted by Jonathan Morris, from the original script by Robert Kitts and Douglas Camfield, and featured Michael Troughton as the Second Doctor, Frazer Hines as Jamie McCrimmon and Wendy Padbury as Zoe Heriot.

The TARDIS has brought the Doctor, Jamie and Zoe to Normandy in France, not in 1066 as intended, but in 1944, three days before the Allies are due to launch the D-Day landings.
Joining forces with French partisans, they learn that the Germans have been conducting secret experiments at a nearby chateau. These experiments form part of a plan that German high command believe will enable them to win the Second World War. The name of that plan? Operation Werewolf.

Worldbuilding[]
- The Doctor has set the co-ordinates for the TARDIS to arrive in Normandy 1066 so that they can witness the departure of William the Conqueror.
- The Doctor is keen to see William the Conqueror and suspects that the Bayeux Tapestry contains a number of factual errors.
- When captured, the Doctor hopes for breakfast, asking for two eggs and a slice of bacon.
- When the Doctor is brought in for questioning, he doesn't have identify papers but is found to be carrying various items of confectionary (dolly mixtures), a magnifying glass, buttons, pins and an item that is unidentifiable by the Kommandant Kurt Müller. The Doctor states it is his screwdriver.

- This story was recorded on 23-24 and 26 January 2024 at the Soundhouse.
- This is the first World War Two related audio story of the Second Doctor's not to feature the companion set-up of Jamie, Ben and Polly.
- Characters speak with Winston Churchill, over the phone, but he does not directly appear or receive dialogue.

- Jamie refers to an aeroplane as a "flying beastie" (TV: The Faceless Ones).

- The Doctor speaks with Winston Churchill, describing himself as the short one with the recorder.
