On the Icy Edge of the Galaxy... was a short comic story which was reprinted in three consecutive early issues of Doctor Who Magazine. An advert as well as a comic story, it advertised the release of a record of an audiobook version of Genesis of the Daleks, featuring the original voices from the TV story as well as original narration.
Summary[]
The Fourth Doctor's TARDIS lands on the planet Gamma-Ursa 9. Walking out to explore the "terrain", he finds a record shop. He walks in, and, looking through the "alien menace section", finds a "splendid" copy of "Genesis of the Daleks, circa 1979". He calls for an assistant to help him make the purchase, only to find that the shop is manned by two Daleks, Zorg and Org, who threaten to exterminate him. A distressed Doctor reflects that he'd better try his luck at buying a copy of Genesis of the Daleks on Terra instead.
Characters[]
Worldbuilding[]
- The Doctor visits the Inter-Gallactic Record Shop.
Notes[]
- This stories is one of a small number to depict Daleks as having names. The names given here, Zorg and Org, adhere to the naming convention originally established by the first named Dalek in licensed Doctor Who fiction, Zeg, from the TV Century 21 comic Duel of the Daleks.
- The story uses the onomatopeia "Thooo-ooommm" for the TARDIS's dematerialisation effect, instead of the more common "vworp vworp".
