Nottingham

Nottingham was a city in England.

Geography[]

The city was located on the River Trent (TV: The Family of Blood [+]Paul Cornell, adapted from Human Nature (Paul Cornell), Doctor Who series 3 (BBC One, 2007).), and contained the Trent Bridge. (PROSE: Have You Seen This Man? [+]various authors, Who is Doctor Who? (BBC, 2005).) Nottingham contained the district of Radford Parade, which itself contained Broadmarsh Street. (TV: The Family of Blood [+]Paul Cornell, adapted from Human Nature (Paul Cornell), Doctor Who series 3 (BBC One, 2007).)

To the south-west of Nottingham was Birmingham. (TV: Army of Ghosts [+]Russell T Davies, Doctor Who series 2 (BBC One, 2006).)

In the 12th century, it was led by a Sheriff and it hosted a fair. The Doctor visited Nottingham, where he met the famous Robin Hood and the evil Sheriff of Nottingham: according to one account, it was the First Doctor with Susan Foreman, Ian Chesterton, and Barbara Wright; (PROSE: The Thief of Sherwood [+]Jonathan Morris, Short Trips: Past Tense (Short Trips, 2004).) according to another account, the Twelfth Doctor with Clara Oswald. (TV: Robot of Sherwood [+]Mark Gatiss, Doctor Who series 8 (BBC One, 2014).) Iris Wildthyme also encountered Robin Hood in Nottingham. John Smith, in 1913, claimed to be from Nottingham, unaware that this was part of his fictional biography created for him by the Tenth Doctor. Joan Redfern later questioned Smith about his past when the truth began to come out, noting that all his knowledge of Nottingham was purely factual content with no emotional ties. According to the novel Gulliver's Travels, Nottingham was the birthplace of its protagonist Lemuel Gulliver. (TV: The Mind Robber [+]Peter Ling, Doctor Who season 6 (BBC1, 1968).)

During the ghost shift craze of 2007, ghosts, actually Cybermen from Pete's World, were forecast as appearing in Nottingham. (TV: Army of Ghosts [+]Russell T Davies, Doctor Who series 2 (BBC One, 2006).)

Undated events[]

Sometime prior to March 2005, the Ninth Doctor went fishing near Trent Bridge in Nottingham. Chris Cave spotted him and later wrote about it on the conspiracy website Doctor Who?. (PROSE: Have You Seen This Man? [+]various authors, Who is Doctor Who? (BBC, 2005).)
