'''New Year's Eve''' was another name by which [[31st December]] was known. As the last day of the year — at least according to some [[Earth]] calendars — it was often a time for celebrations and parties, generally centered around midnight, when the last few seconds of a year could be experienced. Though the parties which occurred on this date were often raucous, some individuals might have marked the occasion with a somber reflection on the passage of time.
