A necrotist was an artist that believed that true creative expression could only be achieved by the killing of others. The first necrotist was Azrael, who started making his artwork of death around 8000 BC. During the Doctor's travels, he encountered an Azrael impersonator (COMIC: The Blood of Azrael) as well as two other necrotists, Susini of the Wasting Wall (COMIC: The Way of All Flesh) and Monos.
