The National Museum was a large museum in central London.
History
In 1963, the Eighth Doctor and Liv Chenka arrived there while investigating a temporal anomaly relating to the Eleven's escape from Gallifrey. Working at the museum as a language scholar was Helen Sinclair. After artefacts containing the Red Lady went "missing" under her watch, Helen was fired and subsequently joined the Doctor's crew. (AUDIO: The Red Lady)
Alternate timeline
The Pandorica was displayed there in an alternate 1996, alongside stone Daleks and other things. Seven-year-old Amelia Pond and her aunt Sharon went to see it that year at Amelia's insistence, unaware that Pandorica contained her adult self.
In this timeline, the Pandorica, two stone Daleks, several dinosaur skeletons, a mounted polar bear, several mounted Nile penguins, and an Egyptian sarcophagus were present in the museum.
Rory Williams, or rather the Auton duplicate of him, was employed as a night guard. He and the Eleventh Doctor rescued Amy's two incarnations from the stone Daleks. The Doctor subsequently launched himself in the Pandorica from within the museum in order to re-boot the universe. (TV: The Big Bang)
Behind the scenes
Scenes in and around the National Museum were filmed in the National Museum of Wales, Cardiff.
