Monument tube station
K9 Bounty Hunter map 6

Monument as seen on a digital map of London. (TV: The Bounty Hunter)

Monument was a tube station (PROSE: "London Underground Map") in the City of London. (TV: The Lie of the Land) It was located on the Circle line. (TV: The Web of Fear, PROSE: "London Underground Map") It was also serviced by another line, depicted in green, on a map of the London Underground network. It was connected by an escalator to another line, depicted in black, and both the terminus of the Waterloo & City line and Bank tube station. (PROSE: "London Underground Map") On both the Circle line and the green line, Monument was located between Cannon Street and Tower Hill. (TV: The Web of Fear, PROSE: "London Underground Map") On the black line, Monument and Bank were located south of Moorgate. The Waterloo & City line connected Monument and Bank directly to Waterloo. It was located north of the River Thames. (PROSE: "London Underground Map")

Jamie and Gwynfor Evans walked to Monument from Cannon Street in the Underground's tunnels during the so-called "London Event", and were almost immediately beset by the Robot Yetis' webs. (TV: The Web of Fear) Monument appeared on a map of the London Underground network at the time of the London Event. (PROSE: "London Underground Map")

Monument appeared on the Department's digital map of London in 2050. (TV: The Bounty Hunter)

Behind the scenes[]

  • The green and black lines which appear on the "London Underground Map" have yet to be named within the DWU. In the real world they are of course the District and Northern lines respectively.
  • Like Charing Cross, Monument has the honour of being one of the few tube stations to be used as a setting for a cliffhanger. Episode 2 of The Web of Fear ends with Jamie and Evans trapped on the Monument platform.
