Monica Lewis was an interior designer. In 1991, she was hired by Shaun Brett to aid in building a monument to his deceased father in Alaska. She devoted herself completely to the project at the expense of her personal life. In 1994, with the monument nearing completion, Monica was forced to help the Fifth Doctor destroy it to kill the Permians inside. (AUDIO: The Land of the Dead)
Behind the scenes[]
During recording, Peter Davison theorised that Monica Lewis was actually Monica Lewinsky avoiding the press by living under a disguise in Alaska. In the CD booklet, creator Stephen Cole described Davison's theory as "not 100% convincing".[1]
