Michael Gough (23 November 1916-17 March 2011) played the Celestial Toymaker in the Doctor Who serial The Celestial Toymaker and Hedin in Arc of Infinity. He would have returned as the Toymaker for TV: The Nightmare Fair had the original Season 23 not been cancelled.
A longtime character actor employed on both sides of the Atlantic, Gough is most widely known for playing Alfred the butler in the Batman movie series of the 1980s and 1990s (Batman, Batman Returns, Batman Forever and Batman and Robin).
Gough was married to Anneke Wills, who played companion Polly Wright, for 17 years (1962-1979).
