Max Sylvester was a crime boss in 20th century London. Professor Pillbright offered him the use of a Dalek disintegrator weapon to raid a London bank. The theft was successful, but the money was irradiated and therefore worthless. Sylvester was angered when informed of this, but the Professor convinced him that they could use the disintegrator to raid the gold reserves of the Bank of England. After Sylvester gained control of the weapon, he used it to kill Pillbright and attempted to carry out the crime. However, the Third Doctor had learned of Pillbright's and the Daleks' involvement, and arranged for Scotland Yard to destroy the disintegrator with a bazooka, while he destroyed the Daleks' base on the Moon with a neutron bomb.
