Captain Maria Gonsalves was the leader of a rebellion faction in Central America. She arranged with Kate Stewart the sale of a Dalek. She wanted to fund her movement to remove a supposed puppet government from her country. She had the Dalek dismantled and tricked Kate into buying the Dalek creature without its weapons and casing. When the Dalek escaped, she helped track the Dalek. She was running a research and development base for the Auctioneers. She was killed by the Dalek using the suction arm.
