Babewyns were a race that existed in a dimension just beyond that of the human consciousness. They were led by the King of Beasts.
History
The Babewyns escaped from the Kingdom of Beasts when humans began to become curious about the world around them, breaching the boundries of the Kingdom. The creatures manifested as apes to represent the lack of knowledge that was being pushed aside in favour of the enlightenment and reason that mankind was beginning to explore.
The Eighth Doctor decapitated the Babewyn's leader; the King of Beasts, with the "screwdriver sonique" in combat, the device representing a new power that the creatures couldn't understand despite its normal inability to cause that kind of harm. (PROSE: The Adventuress of Henrietta Street)
