Lisa Deranne was the captain of a recently revamped solar-yacht, the Tiger Moth. The ship was attacked during its shakedown cruise by a group of Sontarans who were searching for a Rutan agent. The only survivors of her crew were Lisa herself and Kurt. Lisa showed the right qualities of a captain. She took her duty seriously, though often found Kurt's quirks annoying. She was also very courageous as observed by Steg, even confronting the Rutan without any weapons. She also proved capable of such compassion and honour, righteously sickened by the deaths and also by Zorelle's betrayal. Steg commended her for having the spirit of a Sontaran.
