Leo Jones was the son of Francine Jones and Clive Jones, the brother of Tish Jones and Martha Jones, the father of Keisha Jones by his girlfriend and the cousin of Adeola Oshodi.

As a child, Leo loved to read Commando comics. (PROSE: The Story of Martha) He was also responsible for breaking Martha's arm when she was four by accidentally pushing her too hard on a park swing which caused her to fly off. Although Martha was the one with the injury, Leo was the one who ended up crying about it. (PROSE: The Frozen Wastes) He also hated the song "Grace Kelly" by Mika. (PROSE: The Pirate Loop)

Leo celebrated his twenty-first birthday with a party he didn't want because of his parents' constant bickering. The party ended in a fight when his father's girlfriend, Annalise, claimed that Martha's trip to the Moon never happened. Leo took off to console his dad while Tish talked to their mother. (TV: Smith and Jones)

Leo witnessed Richard Lazarus turn forty years younger and the havoc that Lazarus created when he mutated and began a feeding frenzy to power his rejuvenation, during which he was struck in the head with a table and suffered a concussion. He also met the Tenth Doctor, whom he could tell his sister loved dearly. (TV: The Lazarus Experiment)

On the day Harold Saxon took office, Leo was in Brighton with his girlfriend and daughter. The Master had his parents and sister arrested, but Leo evaded capture after Martha warned him to hide with friends. (TV: The Sound of Drums)

Once time reverted to its correct point, Leo was seen with the rest of the Jones family. He was the only one with no memory of the Toclafane invasion and the Master's reign. (TV: Last of the Time Lords)

Behind the scenes

  • In an unmade, deleted scene, Tom Milligan found Leo during the Master's reign. He told Martha that Leo was part of the slave force in the north and had had to change his name because he could not risk having anything to do with her.
