"Kate (A Groatsworth of Wit)" is a title based upon conjecture.

Check the behind the scenes section, the revision history and discussion page for additional comments on this article's title.

Kate (A Groatsworth of Wit)

A female character who Petruchio attempted to "tame" was featured in William Shakespeare's play The Taming of the Shrew. (COMIC: A Groatsworth of Wit, PROSE: The Stranger, The Writer, His Wife and the Mixed Metaphor)

The tagline of a 21st century film adaptation of the play was "Can he tame her?". In an interview with Liz Golding for the film's premiere at the Empire Cinema, Ty Baxter, who portrayed Petruchio, said the battle of the sexes was "an eternal theme" and that Shakespeare had "a lot to say about how men and women relate". (COMIC: A Groatsworth of Wit)

Behind the scenes[]

Although not named explicitly in A Groatsworth of Wit, this character is clearly a reference to Kate from the original play.
