John O'Donnell was a business owner and a recurring Joyriders customer.

From childhood, he was interested in boys. Once he even kissed a boy called Nigel from his school. His mother taught him that this was the perversion, the disease. For more than fifty years, he never engaged in same-sex relationships. This affected his relationships with women. His girlfriend Sandra blamed herself that their relationship did not work. He was fortunate to find a wife he loved, Cheryl, who was not interested in the bedroom and was content with his attitude being the same.

In 2016, he was an overweight and shortsighted man in his fifties with white unhealthy skin, greying hair, puffy lips, hanging jowls and a moustache. He had a habit of biting his nails.

When O'Donnell first heard about Joyriders services, he wanted to try out gay love as a kind of aversion therapy. Instead he became addicted to the experience and was well on course to paying a million pounds to Garry Fletcher for repeatedly using their services. He used to shower the transplant's body before the end of his joyriding periods to spare the transplant the confusion and embarrassment stemming from the actions he was not aware of.

O'Donnell never raised his voice. Unlike other clients, he never discussed with Fletcher what he had done during his joyrides.

One Tuesday in October 2016, he was completely transferred to Ram Singh's body, which caused Ram to come to in his body. O'Donnell then gained partial access to Ram's memories and told Joyriders' owner, Garry Fletcher, about two aliens studying in Coal Hill School. This resulted in Fletcher organising an attack on Miss Quill and Charlie.

O'Donnell died when Fletcher ran him over with a car, trying to kill Ram and not knowing that Steve Hopley managed to reverse the swap between Ram and O'Donnell. (PROSE: Joyride)
