John Black (born 9 May 1940[1] in Malawi) directed the penultimate Fourth Doctor television story The Keeper of Traken, which saw the first appearance of companion Nyssa, and the second (first recorded) Fifth Doctor story Four to Doomsday.
He was also responsible for directing the only K9 and Company story, A Girl's Best Friend. However, according to Ian Sears, he was not respected on the set and he was given the nickname "John Grey".[2]
Black was interviewed in 2017 on Toby Hadoke's Who's Round 205.
