Joanna Renwick was the daughter of Angus Renwick. She helped him to document his archaeological finds. She asked Leela if she could row with in the annual race. Shortly after the race she was attacked by her father's Viking's artefacts. She realised that Murdo Jamieson had placed Leela on the boat that was going to be burned as part of the ceremony.
