Jeff Garvey was a crew member of a spacecraft commanded by Gordon Lowery.
Biography[]
SSS agent Marc Cory crash-landed a small spacecraft on the planet Kembel with Lowery and Garvey on board.
While looking around the jungle, Garvey was stung by a Varga plant, which began mutating him into one of them. He subsequently became homicidal and tried to kill Lowery, but was shot fatally by Cory before he could do so.
Garvey's corpse then fully mutated into a Varga plant. (TV: Mission to the Unknown)
Behind the scenes[]
- As both Galaxy 4: "The Exploding Planet" and the one-episode story Mission to the Unknown are currently missing from the BBC Archives, it is unknown how Barry Jackson was credited on-screen. For the DVD release of Galaxy 4, he is billed as 'Garvey' on the photographic reconstruction of "The Exploding Planet", which is also the credit given in Radio Times; and as 'Jeff Garvey' on both the colour and black-and-white animated versions. For Mission to the Unknown, Jackson is credited as 'Jeff Garvey' in Radio Times.
