Jean Lassurance was an 18th century French architect. In 1715, he built the townhouse in the coastal town of Granville in the north of the country.

The townhouse stood for over 200 years and some experts considered it among the best of Lassurance's earlier work. On 5 March 1941 during World War II, it was destroyed by the Royal Air Force during a violent air raid on Granville after it was used as the Luftwaffe zbV headquarters.
