Jane Bishop lived with her husband and son during the Monks' occupation of Earth in the late 2010s. She was arrested by the Memory Police on the charge of the manufacture and possession of propaganda intended to undermine the "True History", in contravention of the Memory Crimes Act of 1975. She was one of the few who realised the Monks had only been on Earth for "a few months". She was sentenced to ten years in a labour camp. (TV: The Lie of the Land)

Behind the scenes[]

  • In the script for The Lie of the Land [+]Toby Whithouse, Doctor Who series 10 (BBC One, 2017).,[1] it is made explicit that Jane Bishop's son is the one who reports his mother to the Memory Police.
    • Evidence used against Jane includes a postcard of London, with "something missing"; a Westlife CD, with "a couple of tracks not listed"; and a Northanger Abbey book - with "not a single mention of the Monks". She makes it clear that these are all her own possessions from before the arrival of the Monks.
