Biography[]
Ascending the ranks of the Catholic Church[]
In June 2609, Tantry was a reverend studying under Father Antonio Finlay at the St Francis Xavier University. She accompanied Finlay and Luke Duke to Murigen to attend a convention on vampirism at the First Colonial University of Murigen. The conference was sabotaged by an actual vampire and many of its attendees - including Finlay and Duke - were converted into bloodthirsty undead. Tantry worked with Bernice Summerfield and Lloyd Doihara to kill the vampires with faith and sunlight before they could escape Murigen and infect the galaxy. (PROSE: Predating the Predators)
Witnessing her tutor's transformation gave Tantry a sympathy for vampires which would prove controversial among her colleagues. (PROSE: Predating the Predators, De Umbris Idearum) She became a xenotheologian; spending most of her time either doing practical fieldwork or establishing diplomatic relations between the Catholic Church and alien religions. After being granted access to the Collection of Necessary Secrets, Tantry gained more knowledge of vampires (or, as they were known to the Church, Mal'akh).
In May 2621, Tantry was summoned to Wailing's Lace by Father Jakob Naguib to help deal with a techno-cult known as the Remote which transformed its members into new versions of themselves. Tantry met with Evie, the spokesman of the Remote, and listened to him tell the story of how he joined the Remote centuries earlier. While Tantry was disgusted by the ways of the Remote, she decided that the Church would not interfere with the development of the Remote. (PROSE: De Umbris Idearum)

In the 2640s, she led the Beatrician Crusade against the Mal'akh. In 2649, needing more shock troopers for the crusade, Beatrix II reluctantly went back on the decision she had made in 2621 and wrote De umbris idearum, an encyclical advocating brainwashing the Remote to make them Catholic fundamentalists.
