An image translator is a device that can be worn by aliens to project a human disguise. These translators can be in the form of jewelry and rings.

The Bane used image translators to disguise their true forms when they invaded Earth in 2009. The device appears to translate the form of the Bane into a human equivalent projection: Mrs. Wormwood appearing older and superior, Davey appearing younger and handsome. The image could possibly be manipulated to suit the needs of the wearer, such as Major Kilburne who needed to appear in the form of a UNIT officer. However, the translators interfered with the Banes' ability to read minds fully, requiring them to reveal their true forms to those whose minds they wanted to read completely. (SJA: Invasion of the Bane).

Imagetranslator2

Davey uses his image translator device to unveil his true Bane form.

It is believed the same devices were used in "Enemy of the Bane" by the other Bane to disguise their appearance while on Earth.
