Igor was an elderly inhabitant of the Planet of Light. He worked at an observatory there.
Igor had tracked the progress of the Doctor's TARDIS through the heavens, and therefore had been expecting the Second Doctor when he arrived at the observatory with Polly and Ben. He explained to them how, once every three hundred years, all three suns on their planet were eclipsed, resulting in a brief period of darkness in which the inhabitants would go insane with fear and destroy their civilisation. Since the people would not believe his warnings, he had prepared for this by placing several children in a deep sleep underground. He asked the Doctor to return one day and teach the survivors what had happened and how to prepare for it. He then bid him to leave as the darkness was already coming. (COMIC: World Without Night)
