High Street

High Street was a common name given to a street that was central to a village, city or city district. In particular, there were several High Streets in London.

Chiswick had a High Road. (TV: The Runaway Bride [+]Russell T Davies, Doctor Who Christmas Special 2006 (BBC One, 2006)., Turn Left [+]Russell T Davies, Doctor Who series 4 (BBC One, 2008).)

Ealing High Street[]

In 2009, Peter Dalton invited Sarah Jane Smith and Luke Smith to the new Italian on the High Street. (TV: The Wedding of Sarah Jane Smith [+]Gareth Roberts, The Sarah Jane Adventures series 3 (BBC One, 2009).)

In the same year, the yellow and red robots arrived at High Street. Rani Chandra heard a trumpet sound that was coming from that street. (TV: The Empty Planet [+]Gareth Roberts, The Sarah Jane Adventures series 4 (CBBC, 2010).)

In November 2009, several people had downloaded a computer virus created by Ian Webster and the Umorgus. Their computer parts had been build into mechanic locusts that were attacking the people. Shoreditch High Street[]

Another High Street was in Shoreditch.

In 1963, shops on High Street, were closed most of the week because of the "quiet crisis", but opened on Saturday morning. High Street was always busy on this day, as everyone had to do all their shopping at once. The Pump was a pub on the corner, which also had an entrance onto Totter's Lane. In 2016, a "joyrider" controlling Poppy's body drove a car through the window of a betting shop on High Street. (PROSE: Joyride [+]Guy Adams, BBC Class novels (2016).)
