The guardians were traditionally in charge of Voga's gold mines. When Chief Councillor Tyrum tried to have Vorus, leader of the guardians, removed from office for abuse of his power, he chose to oppose him, sparking the Vogan Civil War. The guardians remained within the mines while the Vogans under Tyrum tried to force them out. Peace was made when Cybermen invaded. (TV: Revenge of the Cybermen)
