Greece, also known as the Hellenic Republic, (TV: Children of Earth: Day Three) was a country in southern Europe, on Earth. Aliens frequently became involved in its history. Major Greek cities included Athens (eventually its capital city), Sparta and Delphi.

In ancient times, the Immortals were worshipped as gods by the Greeks. (PROSE: Deadly Reunion) Greek civilisation was also influenced by both the Dæmons (TV: The Dæmons) and Scaroth. (TV: City of Death)

The Doctor claimed to have met the legendary Greek hero Theseus. (TV: The Creature from the Pit, The Horns of Nimon)

Circa 1200 BC, the Greeks participated in the Trojan War. This was when the first incarnation of the Doctor met Katarina. In April 1941, the forces of Nazi Germany invaded Greece as World War II spread into Eastern Europe. The British fought against the Germans there. On 19 April, the Germans outflanked the British on the Pindus Mountains and forced them to withdraw. On 23 April, the British Army began to evacuate Greece. (PROSE: Just War) The Germans subsequently took control of the Greek islands. (PROSE: Deadly Reunion) Under occupation, partisan groups laid many secret paths allowing travel around Greece and into Bulgaria. (PROSE: The Touch of the Nurazh)

After the war, a communist insurrection broke out in the north of Greece. His Majesty's Intelligence Corps began exploring the islands to update their maps which had become outdated since the evacuation, but the British government decided against intervention on the mainland. While on holiday in Greece in the 21st century, June met the Tenth Doctor and helped him defeat a group of aliens who posed a threat to Athens. (PROSE: The Slitheen Excursion)

In 2009, Greece, otherwise known as the Hellenic Republic, was among the nations which agreed to let John Frobisher speak on their behalf to the 456. (TV: Children of Earth: Day Three)

In 2011, Greece declared itself bankrupt during the Miracle, as did Ireland. (TV: End of the Road)
