The Eighth Doctor encountered gnomes on the planets Albert. (PROSE: Grimm Reality) There were also gnomes on Caligaris Epsilon Six, although they were genetically-engineered recreations of the mythical figures, designed to make the planet into a popular holiday destination for humans. (COMIC: A Fairytale Life)

Father Christmas said that one could teach a gnome to build a wooden train, but not a games console. (AUDIO: Death in Blackpool)

Behind the scenes[]

The illustration of the gnome on the cover of Golden Age is clearly reminiscent of the gnomes as illustrated by Rien Poortvliet in Wil Huygen's 1976 book Gnomes.
