Gloucester was located in the south-west of England, close to the Welsh border which was to the west of the city. Nearby towns included Stroud to the south and Dursley to the south-west. Local small towns and villages included Painswick to the south, Frampton on Severn to the south-west, and Mitcheldean and Cinderford to the west - both part of Dean Forest Park. West Country Children's Home was located in Gloucester. The Twelfth Doctor and Clara Oswald visited it in the 1990s and saw Danny Pink as a child. Clara also claimed that she had never been to Gloucester but the Doctor ignored it, saying that she had likely simply forgotten. (TV: Listen)
In 2008, the Eleventh Doctor suggested going to Gloucester, as the nearest city to Leadworth, in an effort to stop the Atraxi from destroying the world in their search for Prisoner Zero.
