The Friends of the Ood were an organization that was determined to liberate the Ood from slavery and prove that Ood Operations was lying to the public about the nature of their slaves. (DW: The Impossible Planet)
Dr. Ryder was a member of Friends of the Ood and it took him ten years, but he managed to free the Ood Brain long enough for it to communicate with the Ood on the Ood-Sphere. When he was outed to Klineman Halpen, Halpen tossed him into the Ood Brain and he died from suffocation. (DW: Planet of the Ood)
Other pro-Ood supporters include the Tenth Doctor and Donna Noble, who had saved the Ood from corporate slavery and were to be remembered by them in song. (DW: Planet of the Ood). Also Rose Tyler had shown sympathy and even questioned the Ood about their treatment, however she and the Doctor couldn't investigate this further as the Ood became possessed by the Beast (DW: The Impossible Planet, The Satan Pit). The Doctor later regretted not doing something sooner.
