Franklin Delano Roosevelt

Franklin Delano Roosevelt was the 32nd President of the United States (PROSE: Tricky Dicky [+]David Llewellyn, The Brilliant Book 2012 fiction (BBC Books, 2011).) who led his country through the bulk of World War II. (PROSE: Endgame [+]Terrance Dicks, BBC Eighth Doctor Adventures (BBC Books, 2000).)

Biography[]

In 1927, he was targeted by the Trickster's Brigade using an alien Brainspawn in an attempt to change the course of history by allowing Nazi Germany to win World War II. However, the plan was foiled by Jack Harkness and Angelo Colasanto. He was to be elected Governor of New York in November that year. (TV: Immortal Sins [+]Jane Espenson, Torchwood series 4 (Starz, 2011).)

Amongst his many accomplishment was the foundation of the Office of Strategic Services, the forerunner of the Central Intelligence Agency. He died in office in 1945 and was succeeded by Harry S. The title of the audio story Prisoners of Fate [+]Jonathan Morris, Main Range (Big Finish Productions, 2013). is taken from a quote by Roosevelt: "Men are not prisoners of fate but only prisoners of their own minds".[1]
