Frank Finlay CBE (6 August 1926-30 January 2016[1]) voiced a Shapeshifter taking on the form of Jacob Williams in the Big Finish Doctor Who audio story Bedtime Story. He was one of the few Oscar-nominated actors to appear in a Doctor Who production.

He was previously considered for the roles of Halrin Login in Full Circle, The Monitor in Logopolis, Richard Mace in The Visitation, Ambril in Snakedance, the Governor of Varos in Vengance on Varos, Lord Ravensworth in The Mark of the Rani, Shockeye of the Quawncing Grig in The Two Doctors, Orcini in Revelation of the Daleks, Commodore Travers in Terror of the Vervoids, Hans de Flores in Silver Nemesis, Joseph C, Gilbert M and Trevor Sigma in The Happiness Patrol (TCH 41) and Josiah Samuel Smith in Ghost Light.

It was a publicity photo of Finlay as Porthos in the 1973 film The Three Musketeers was the basis for the musketeer on David McAllister's cover artwork for the novelisation of The Mind Robber.[2]
