I know it was agreed that it was bad to have quotes on the main article pages, but should we have quotes pages, as found here? I really don't see the need for them, especially since they are out of universe, and this site rather takes care of it. --The Thirteenth Doctor 16:21, September 23, 2010 (UTC)

Agreed. I found it one when I was going through old pages, I think they should be deleted. Mini-mitch 16:28, September, 23, 2010 (UTC)
I agree that we do not need them on this wiki. Perhaps we could use a template to link offsite to those Wikiquote pages where appropriate; compare Template:Wikipediainfo. Rob T Firefly 17:51, September 23, 2010 (UTC)
This was something I started to explore whether we could find a need for them with pages I re-arranged Second Doctor - Quotes where the quotes are organised into a 'References' like structure. I thought it might be a useful way of presenting the information. But I wasn't totally sure on the idea, it keeps things in-universe and in a encyclopaedic way but I've never been totally sure on it. --Tangerineduel 17:57, September 23, 2010 (UTC)

Archivist's note[]

It's fair to say that this little exchange ended the last vestige of quotes-for-quotations-sake on the wiki. Their acceptance had waned in stages, with the first stage being their removal from the top of pages/sections, to them being shunted out to special "quotes only pages" like Quotes - Sarah Jane Smith. This discussion permanently killed even the special quotes pages.

The idea in the latter part of this discussion — that of having a link to wikiquotes — seemingly died on the vine.
