Just a suggestion. In recent I've noticed quite a few not notable pages created and eventually deleted and just a suggestion we should disable the upload a new photo and create a new page options on the side of the site you see. This way less chance of people just creating any sort of article and if anyone is actually serious about an article they'd want to create then they would go to Special:Special Pages and go to create a new page and the same with uploading a pic. Heaps of wikis have adopted this approach and would be logical to do so as well. --Vitas 10:30, October 3, 2010 (UTC)
- Looking through the deletion log there's not a really notable spate of page creations.
- Much of the time pages are created via red-links.
- I'll look into disabling the link(s), but with the new skin that wikia is pushing out it may pay to wait and see with regards to that.
- I and the other admins, rollback users and general editors do keep an eye out for these actions and try to act promptly. --Tangerineduel 13:14, October 3, 2010 (UTC)
Archivist's notes[]
What's being suggested here is a clear violation of Wikia's Terms of Use. While it's technically possible — and even easy — to disable the new photo and new page buttons in the right rail, it's not allowed by Wikia policy. Closing this discussion as moot.
