The Forest of the Impaled was the site outside of Tirgoviste where Vlad III impaled 23,000 Turks in order to drive away the advancing Turkish army. This event drew the attention of Mictlan, initiating first contact between Earth and one of the Wartime powers. (PROSE: The Book of the War)
