Fontayne was one of Gorlois' guards.
Fontayne and Lunt were on duty the night that Gorlois' wife Igerna went into labour. They saw the TARDIS land and the Eighth Doctor appear. Fontayne escorted the Doctor to Igerna to help her deliver her son Arthur.
