Flint Fleet was a captain of the Starmaker.
The ship crashed on Skaro after being hit by a meteor, which was purposefully done by the Daleks.
He and Tom, but not Tom's sister Jennie, witnessed the destruction of Starmaker by the Daleks — in which everyone on board, including the children's parents, perished. Fleet told Tom they mustn't tell Jennie what had happened.

Behind the scenes[]
- It remains unclear as to whether or not Flint is Fleet's first name. He is referred to "Captain Flint" in one panel of the penultimate instalment in TV Century 21 № 103, but this could simply be a misprint.
