== Common usage ==
[[The Doctor]] and [[companion|their friends]] often used fire extinguishers to put out fires — not a few times on board [[The Doctor's TARDIS|the TARDIS]] herself.

Early evidence of fire extinguishers on board the TARDIS was seen when [[Nyssa]] had to contain the fire caused by her [[sonic device|sonic]] destruction of the [[Terileptil android]]. Fire extinguishers could be used more offensively, however.

Other species were perhaps more susceptible to the effects of fire extinguishers.
