Character Options' Time Squad action figure range was initially released on 20 February 2009. The 2", highly stylised figures had variable levels of articulation and were available in sets of from one to five figures. They looked more cartoonish and childish than the standard figures. The 5-packs contained exclusive figures of Dalek Sec, an Ood, a Sycorax and Davros.

Some figures were released with a wave of 3 Micro Universe vehicles, one of the vehicles being exclusive, meaning you had to get a Time Squad figure to complete the Micro Universe range. Dalek Sec and Slitheen were some of the possible figures.

The series was twice featured in Doctor Who Adventures for extended periods of time. From DWA 100 to 115 when the series was first released, Time Squad action figures were given away as a part of a competition. Later, on the eve of the broadcast of Matt Smith's first series, Time Squad figures returned to DWA for a ten-issue competition from DWA 150 to 159.

In 2015, the series returned as a wave of 10 figures, with new figures of the Twelfth Doctor, Eleventh Doctor, Clara Oswald and 2013 Cyberman, along with repaints of an Ood to look like Nephew and a Clockwork Droid in a purple costume rather than blue. The other 6 being rereleases, one of which, the Dalek, now has a green base, similar to the earlier Character Options 5” figures.

Along with the series of 10, there was a set of 5 figures included with a TARDIS money box. 3 were rereleases from wave 1, but two were new, which were a projected Weeping Angel and a differently printed 2006 Cyberman.
